EXPRESS YOURSELF IN THE TWI LANGUAGE TO SIGNIFY WHO YOU ARE- JOE WISE TO ASU

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, RT. Hon Joseph Osei Owusu popularly known as Joe Wise has advised people of the Ashanti region to express their selves well in the Twi language to signify that they are Akans.

According to him, the language signifies who you are wherever you find yourself in.

He added that, Asante has a rich history of using our unique Asanteman values of unity and love, hard work, discipline, perseverance and interpersonal relationship to develop tremendously in the past.

He noted that, it is wrong to speak the English language without knowing your mother tongue.

He made this known to the media at the 40th anniversary of the Asante Students Union (ASU) at the University of Education Winneba- Kumasi Campus in Tanoso.

“Asante Kingdom has one of the richest cultural in the world hence we should be proud to be Asante”, he said.



Meanwhile Co- founder of the union which was found in the early 1970’s, who doubles as the Former Ambassador to USA, H. E. Dr. Kwame Bawuah also advised them to be very hard work and preserve their cultural values very well.

Deputy registrar for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr. Bekoe has told Nana Ampratwum that only final year students would be studying on campus whilst others continue studying online. Speaking on the Omanbapa morning show, he said the 6th year medical students would spend 3 weeks on campus for exams before they end the semester and the 5th year also follow suit afterwards due to social distancing. This follows the easing of Covid-19 restrictions to enable educational institutions to re-open for final year students on June 15. Dr. Bekoe also clarified that no students has been asked to come for their belongings at the campus as speculated on the social media.

To the Editor, Why I didn’t show up for the morning news production on Monday On that fateful day (Monday, April 4 th 2022) I was preparing to come and produce the morning news despite the heavy rainfall and lack of electricity in my area. I was ready to come around 4:30am when my father ordered me to wait due to crime rate in my area and especially such an ungodly hour. From where l stay, I have to board a taxi to the main road before getting a car to work but unfortunately, there was no car at the time I arrived there around 5:10am because of the rain and lack of electricity. I had no other option than to wait because I might be attacked if I decided to walk to the main road that’s why I couldn’t get here on time to produce to morning news.   Have confidence; I’m determined to fix economy despite downgrade – Nana Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is confident Ghana’s economy will bounce back despite the recent downgrade by international rating agency, Standard & Poor’s (S&P). S&P last week downgraded Ghana’s foreign and local credit ratings from B-B’ to CCC+C with a negative economic outlook. According to S&P, the downgrade was due to intensifying financing and external pressures on the economy.
