JOURNALIST FEEDS PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY AND MENTAL ILLNESS

A Bolgatanga based Journalist with A1 radio in the Upper East regional capital has extended what he described as COVID-19 edition of love sharing to persons with disabilities and persons with mental illness across the regional capital. Ngamegbulam Stephen Chidozie as he is popularly called started his humanitarian initiative in the year 2018 as a result of his late dad’s advice to him to always show love to the vulnerable. According to him, it is always important to show love and care to fellow Ghanaians who find themselves in critical conditions hence he need for him to feed them in this covid-19 era. He added that, he intends to expand his kind gesture to the vulnerable in future across the region but stressed he is handicap at the moment as an individual championing the course. Speaking to the leader of People with disabilities in the Bolgatanga Municipal, Mr. Apania Issah expressed his profound gratitude to Ngamegbulam for his kind gesture.

STIGMA HAUNTING COVID 19 RECOVERED PATIENTS – NABDAM MP

The Member of Parliament ( MP ) for the Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, a medical doctor, has said the stigmatisation associated with testing positive to the coronavirus makes it impossible to disclose the identities of persons who will test positive to the virus. The MP reacting to reports that some MPs and parliamentary staffs had tested positive to the virus in a meet the press series on the floor of Parliament Wednesday, bemoaned that, the stigmatisation in our societies towards COVID 19 patients kill their souls adding that the society should embrace their relative in a warm manner when returned from isolation/quarantine centers. He recounted how some recovered persons had to suffer in public through stigma. This he said makes it difficult to reveal the identity of people who will test positive.

SAD: 16 YEAR GIRL PARALYZED AFTER BEING RAPED, FAMILY UNABLE TO FINANCE HOSPITAL BILLS

Sister Ama, mother of the 16 year girl who got raped at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North has recounted how the family is struggling to raise funds to her health care after she got paralyzed. Narrating the ordeal to Nana Ampratwum on Omanbapa show monitored by Africanewsgh.blogspot.com, she said the accused rapist (namely Kobby) about a month ago asked the victim to wash her cloths at about 8:30 pm which the victim reports the accused forced her in sexual affair which later paralyzed her. She said her daughter (the victim) has since been unable to walk after the incidence. The accused was arrested but I can’t foot the bills for hospital report for prosecution so he’s been released from police custody, she bemoaned.

COVID19 Relief items diversion; Old Tafo Assembly suspends Assembly member for leaking info to the media

Assembly member of Tafo Nhyiaeso in the Ashanti region, Mr. Owusu King is reported   to have been s uspended for telling the media about how the MCE and other Assembly members diverted COVID19 relief items meant for the vulnerable. Tafo Pankrono MCE, Fred Owusu Obeng was accused of diverting COVID-19 relief items meant for vulnerable in the Municipality whilst some of the food items were sold up in the market below the normal price. The Tafo Nhyiaeso member, upon seeing such ungodly act reported to silver news’ Akwadaa Nyame monitored by Africanewsgh.blogspot.com. The MCE denied the acts but it is reported that Hon. Owusu King has been subjected to be suspended for breaking the oath of secrecy in the standing orders of the Assembly. In reaction to this development on Omanbapa show with Nana Ampratwum, Lawyer Paul Kumi, a constitutional lawyer says the Assembly’s d ecision to suspend the Assembly member on the said basis is illegal.

IT’S A DIFFICULT TIME TO BE NDC MEMBER – AMALIBA

A member of the opposition NDC party Legal Team, Lawyer Abraham Amaliba says the sentencing of former D-G of the National Communications Authority (NCA), William Tetteh Tevie, and ex Board Chairman, Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie makes it a difficult time to be a member of the party. According to him, though the party is hard hit by the conviction of the two, this will not break or deter the party but will rather strengthen its unity. An Accra High Court presided over by Justice Kyei Barfuor on Tuesday handed a six-year jail term to Mr. William Tetteh Tevie, Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie, and slapped a five-year jail term on Salifu Osman, a former National Security representative coordinator. Justice Eric Kyei Baffour found them guilty of causing $4 million financial loss to the state.
