The Public Relation Officer (PRO) for the Education Ministry PRO, Ekow Vincent Assafuah has said that a case that has led to the death of a final year student at the KNUST Senior High School in Kumasi is most unfortunate.

According to him, investigations have commenced into the matter and those found to have neglected their duty leading to the death of the student will be punished.

He added that, there was a crush meeting with the decision that, the Head of Public Relations Unit at the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo has said the headmistress, Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa is to step aside for the Ashanti Regional Director of Education to take over the administration of the school while the management of the GES investigates the circumstances that led to the death of the final year student of the school on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

He noted that, they have traced the where about of the deceased parents.

On Tuesday, July 7, the students accused the teachers of ignoring the call for help by the deceased after complaining of severe stomach ache.

The teachers reportedly told his mates not to get close to him for fear of being infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and didn’t even attempt to offer him any help, the students alleged.

He revealed that, all Schools in the country have received their PPE’s equipments to protect them from contracting the virus.

He again disagrees with the people calling for the closure of all schools.

Deputy registrar for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr. Bekoe has told Nana Ampratwum that only final year students would be studying on campus whilst others continue studying online. Speaking on the Omanbapa morning show, he said the 6th year medical students would spend 3 weeks on campus for exams before they end the semester and the 5th year also follow suit afterwards due to social distancing. This follows the easing of Covid-19 restrictions to enable educational institutions to re-open for final year students on June 15. To the Editor, Why I didn’t show up for the morning news production on Monday On that fateful day (Monday, April 4 th 2022) I was preparing to come and produce the morning news despite the heavy rainfall and lack of electricity in my area. I was ready to come around 4:30am when my father ordered me to wait due to crime rate in my area and especially such an ungodly hour. From where l stay, I have to board a taxi to the main road before getting a car to work but unfortunately, there was no car at the time I arrived there around 5:10am because of the rain and lack of electricity.
