EC WILL ENSURE COMPILATION OF CREDIBLE REGISTER-JEAN MENSAH

The Chairperson of Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), Jean Mensah has stated that, their desire is to have a credible a clean registrar.

According to her, they will use all mechanism available to clean up the registrar to make sure no one who is not qualified to have his/her name in the registration book.

She added that, as a commission, it is their duty to ensure the registrar will be meant for Ghanaians only.

She noted that, they will do their best to bring a clean register.

She called all citizens and stakeholders to be vigilant to help have a clean a credible registrar.

EC chairperson, Jean Mensa, and her executives in a press conference spoke on various concerns, successes, and challenges that have plagued the registration exercise so far.


At the last briefing, the EC said it has as at July 26, 2020 captured the biometric data of 12,371,651 persons in the ongoing compilation exercise of a new voters register ahead of the 2020 December 7 polls.

In view of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Electoral Commission (EC) also announced the introduction of a policy where nomination forms will be made available on the EC’s portals to allow candidates to file their nominations ahead of the 2020 December polls.

According to EC Chairperson Jean Mensa, Presidential and Parliamentary candidates will no longer have to come to the Commission to pick up their nomination forms before filling them.

Deputy registrar for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr. Bekoe has told Nana Ampratwum that only final year students would be studying on campus whilst others continue studying online. Speaking on the Omanbapa morning show, he said the 6th year medical students would spend 3 weeks on campus for exams before they end the semester and the 5th year also follow suit afterwards due to social distancing. To the Editor, Why I didn’t show up for the morning news production on Monday On that fateful day (Monday, April 4 th 2022) I was preparing to come and produce the morning news despite the heavy rainfall and lack of electricity in my area. I was ready to come around 4:30am when my father ordered me to wait due to crime rate in my area and especially such an ungodly hour. From where l stay, I have to board a taxi to the main road before getting a car to work but unfortunately, there was no car at the time I arrived there around 5:10am because of the rain and lack of electricity.   Have confidence; I’m determined to fix economy despite downgrade – Nana Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is confident Ghana’s economy will bounce back despite the recent downgrade by international rating agency, Standard & Poor’s (S&P). S&P last week downgraded Ghana’s foreign and local credit ratings from B-B’ to CCC+C with a negative economic outlook.
