The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah has denied making any ethnocentric comments following the pressure from the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for him to resign.

According to him, this is an action by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) executives because they are afraid of him because he is fair and firm.

He added that, no one can bribe him because he is incorruptible.

“Nana Addo knows best than them and I won’t waste my time on them but will be firm in implementing whatever decision within the frame work of the law”, he said.

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the Dangers of Ethnocentrism to Ghana’s Unity, Stability, Peace and Security has called for the resignation of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah over alleged ethnocentric comments he made against Northerners.

The CSOs led by the Strategic Thinkers Network (STRANEK) says the president must sack the Minister if he fails to resign or they will be forced to campaign against the ruling NPP.

At a press conference addressed by Ni Tettey Tetteh, Executive Director, he said the former deputy agric minister Mr. William Quaitoo was forced to resign over derogatory comments he made against people from the north.

NDC YOUTH VANDALIZED PARTY OFFICE

  Irate youth of the National Democratic Congress in the Suame Constituency have vandalized the office of the National Democratic Congress at Suame. Leader angry youth, Mohammed Naail speaking to Silver fm reporter, Akwadaa Nyame, the executives  within the party has failed to meet up to their expectation. According to him, the constituency Chairman does not vote at the Suame Constituency hence he can’t become the Chairman of the party per their rules. He added that, there is an injunction on Shaba by the court that prevents him from entering the party’s office. He noted that, they felt disappointed towards the Ashanti regional Chairman on the NDC for giving a clearance letter to Shaba to become the Chairman of the constituency without informing anybody. He disclosed that, they vandalized the office to express their dissatisfaction towards the leaders of the party. GHANA RISK OF FOOD DROUGHT IF DESERTIFICATION PERSISTS-WETLAND MANAGER WARNS

Dickson Agyemang, Operations manager for Wetland under the Forestry Commission has revealed that consistent desertification of lands and building in water ways may lead the country into food crisis in the coming years. Ghana is losing more than 20 percent forest reserve every year due to desertification such as mining activities, felling down of trees and the likes, he revealed when speaking on Omanbapa show with Nana Ampratwum. He added that Ghana is in a risk of food crisis and extreme poverty if we continue the activities that destroy farmlands and forest reserves. Mr. Agyemang therefore encouraged Ghanaians to report people who build in water areas for legal action to be taken against them.
