Covid-19: There are unidentifiable people with the virus-Dr. Serebour
Vice President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Serebour has stated that, there are a lot of people in the streets who are having the virus.
Acccording to him, these numbers on the streets are three times higher the the numbers given out to the public.
He added that, majority of the people doesn't visit the hospital whiles others rely on self medications.
He noted that, the increment of the virsu is very alarming hence the need for everyone to adhere to all protocols.
He disclosed that, a lot of people are getting sicker everyday which is very alarming.
He revealed that, the Ghana Health Service will go back to their old days by doing contact tracing and other things to help curb the spread of the virus.

GES assures public of safety ahead of re-opening of school
The Ghana Education Service (GES) says all necessary measures have been put in place ahead of the official re-opening of basic schools on Monday, January 18, 2021, for effective teaching and learning.
Head of Public Relations Unit of GES Ms. Cassandra Twum has rged pupils, parents, teachers, and the public not to panic.
According to her, all PPE's has been distributed to the various schools to help curb the spread of the virus.
She added that, they have mark every school to a health clinic to treat a king of sickness.
She noted that, they have trained District Advocay Team to educate the parents and Students as schools have finally resume.
She directed that all schools should use Monday to tidy up classrooms and school environments for academic work while academic work would commence on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
She revealed that, Kindergaten to lower primary will close at 12:00pm while upper primary,JHS to SHS will close at their normal time which is 3:00 pm

Covid-19: Police and Law enforcement should act quickly- Virologist
Virologist at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) Dr. Michael Owusu has stated that, the Police and other Law Enforcement agencies should act quickly as been directed by the President.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his 22nd nations address on measures his government has put in place to fight the novel Coronavirus instructed the IGP James Oppong Boanuh to deploy police officers to enforce the directive of compulsory mask-wearing at public places.
Akufo-Addo indicated that the Ghana Police Service and other security services will work to ensure that night clubs, and pubs and beaches are closed down immediately.
Dr. Michael Owusu revealed that, it is the only the Police and the law agencies that will enable bring the situation under control.
According to him, wearing to nose mask in efficient because the mask can protect and cut down the virus growth by as amuch as 75%.
He added that, the law enforcement is very critical at this moment.
He noted that, a law is a law and shoudl deal with anyone who flaws it.

Covid-19: The New strain spreads faster and deadlier-GMA
Chairman of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) in the Ashanti region, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baido has stated that, the new strain of the virus spreads faster and deadlier too.
According to him, scientist are now studying whether the vaccines wil be able to control the new strain.
He added that, it has become a challenge for them because as they are trying to eliminate it, they are also probagate themselves.
He noted that, this is probalbly danderous compared to the first one.
He disclosed that, it is not surprising to see both the young and the older contracting the virus.

GHANA RISK OF FOOD DROUGHT IF DESERTIFICATION PERSISTS-WETLAND MANAGER WARNS
Dickson Agyemang, Operations manager for Wetland under the Forestry Commission has revealed that consistent desertification of lands and building in water ways may lead the country into food crisis in the coming years. Ghana is losing more than 20 percent forest reserve every year due to desertification such as mining activities, felling down of trees and the likes, he revealed when speaking on Omanbapa show with Nana Ampratwum. He added that Ghana is in a risk of food crisis and extreme poverty if we continue the activities that destroy farmlands and forest reserves. Mr. Agyemang therefore encouraged Ghanaians to report people who build in water areas for legal action to be taken against them.
