Ewe textbooks: The Publisher will be sanctioned - GPA

Executive Secretary of Ghana Publishers Association (GPA), Mr. Klu Benjamin has revealed that, they are going to sanction Badu Nkansah Publications for publishing misinformation in their text book.

Ghanaians have condemned the publishing and sale of two main controversial history textbooks for primary schools in the country.

The books are History of Ghana for Basic 6 by Golden Publications which carries distasteful information about Ghana's first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP, History of Ghana Textbook 3 by Badu Nkansah Publications which features “A song that shows the Ewes identity” and Golden English Basic 4 by Golden Publications which displays “Efo agrees to prepare juju for the players” on page 17.

The general public is outraged with the contents of the textbooks which have been described as offensive to Ewes.

Speaking to Nana Ampratwum on Silver fm Omanbapa morning show, Mr. Klu added that, they can only sanction Badu Nkansah Publications because he is a member of the Association.

According to him, he believes the textbooks were not approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA).

He noted that, they are going to implement the appropriate sanctions for them.

He revealed that, there are a lot of books in the market that have not been approved by NaCCA.
