Wood seller at Ahinsan Angola protest against evacuation by Jute

Wood sellers at Ahinsan Angola in the Asokwa municipality of the Ashanti Region staged a demonstration on Thursday to protest a planned evacuation by the Jute company limited, to allow for  construction of a Cocoa sack factory.

The traders, during the demonstration accused the management of Jute company limited of illegal selling of a portion of the land they occupied to a private developer.

Though the management of Jute company limited has asked traders to relocate, they told the media that, they will not heed to the management’s directive.

They said the company failed to engage them adequately, considering that they have plied their activities in the area for nearly two decades.

The Angola wood market is close to the Kumasi Abattoir  located in Asokwa.

The space in question is a about 20-acre land being occupied by more than 3,000 traders.
