Acting Auditor-General has done what ‘most touted’ Domelevo couldn’t do – Akufo-Addo
President Akufo-Addo has praised the acting Auditor-General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, for his work ethic since assuming the role.
According to him, Mr Asiedu has surpassed expectations in his functions at the office, which are ‘unheard of.’
The President indicated the Acting Auditor-General since his appointment “has demonstrated sufficient quality and independence of view.”
“For instance, he is responsible for some things that are unheard of. In our history, the 12 statutory reports that have to be compiled and placed before Parliament in the year of Parliament, this is the first time it has ever been done,” he said on August 18.
He made these comments at a meeting with the Ghana National Anti-Corruption Coalition members at the Jubilee House.
Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu was appointed by the Audit Service Board after his predecessor, Daniel Domelevo, was forced by the President to proceed on accumulated 167-day leave back in August last year.
Mr Domelevo was, however, forced to retire on March 3 in a letter from the Presidency shortly after his return from leave.
But speaking to the media, President Akufo-Addo credited Mr Asiedu for achieving feats that he says were not attained by the former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo.

Your propaganda with the economy will expose you – Mahama to Bawumia
Former President and the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC), has taken a swipe at the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on issues concerning the country’s economy.
Mr. Mahama believes the Vice President is engaging in propaganda with the economy.
Dr. Bawumia recently urged Ghanaians to be optimistic in the competent management of the economy by the government.
According to him, the economy has begun showing signs of recovery following the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He insisted that the exceptional economic prowess and intelligence of the managers of the economy led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was key to wealth creation to reduce poverty, attract investments, empower businesses to expand, and create jobs.
However, Mr. Mahama thinks otherwise. He described the claims as dishonest and laughable.
He noted that, “The dishonesty is so glaring that sometimes it is laughable. You can do all the propaganda about the economy, but the reality of people’s lives will expose you.”
The Vice President gave the assurance at the Central Regional Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) conference held on Saturday at the University of Cape Coast.

Your projects have not been abandoned- Agyeman-Manu to Mahama
Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has told Former President John Dramani Mahama that his uncompleted projects in the health sector have not been abandoned.
The Dormaa Central lawmaker said that the completion of the projects delayed due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
He mentioned the La and Shama hospitals as examples of the projects that were about to start when the second wave of the virus started.
Mr Mahama has on many occasions accused the Akufo-Addo administration of abandoning many of the projects started during his government’s tenure.
The former President said he finds it disappointing that a number of the projects remain uncompleted since his administration left office in January 2017.
He asked the President to complete his projects before starting Agenda 111 to build 111 hospitals across the country.
But Mr Agyeman-Manu said “Since I joined the Ministry, no project has been abandoned. We have categorized all the projects that we inherited from 2017 and to projects which commenced in 2017 that have been completed. Then we have slides on projects that commenced in 2017 and the various status of these projects.
“Last year we did a lot of sod cutting on some projects and we are being asked questions as to why these projects have not started and have not been completed., let me state that it looks like very soon, very quickly all of us Ghanaians are forgetting about the fact that the world was hit by a pandemic which disrupted our economic activities.
“Project like La, Shama, twelve different hospitals is to be done by just one contractor we did sod cutting for all of these in October November. By December Covid second wave has taken in and it’s attending disruptions. We were not going to work.
