Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill: The will of the people is the will of the President- Pius
Former Deputy Information Minister,
Pius Enam Hadzide ha stated that, he is of the view that, President Akufo Addo will act base on what the public wants.
According to him, though President Akufo Addo had earlier made his decisions clear on the LGBTQ+ but will not go against the will of Ghanaians.
The ‘Proper Human Sexual and Ghanaian Family Values Bill’ 2021 has been finally laid in parliament.
The second deputy speaker Andrews Amoako who was presiding referred the bill to the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament.
The Bill is a private members’ legislation sponsored by eight Members of Parliament – seven from the NDC and one from the NPP.
The bill mostly titled the anti-LGBTQ bill proscribes people of the same sex to engage in sexual activity. People engaged in the act could be fined or jailed for between three to five years.
But Pius Hadzide speaking to the media said, the President will not have any challenge in passing the law.
He added that, he doesn’t see in the future that, the country will accept LGBTQ+ in the country maybe centuries to come.
