Armed robber knocked down at Sekyeredumase

A brave taxi driver has knocked down a suspected armed robber on the Sekyeredumase road in the Ejura Municipality.

The taxi driver according to report was able to escape after knocking down one of the armed robbers.

The rest of the armed robbers sensing danger bolted away living the one knocked down behind.

In a video sighted by Silver News, the knocked down suspected armed robber (Hamidu) speaking to some of the residents at Sekyeredumase said, all the three armed robbers reside at Ejura.

Revealing their names, he said they are Jaaye, Abubakari who are Fulani members.

He added that, they got guns with the help of the Police CID.

He said, he can lead them to apprehend the two suspected armed robbers.

As of May 2021, Ghana achieved a crime index of 48.52. The index measures the level of crime in a given country or city. This means that, at the said date, crime in Ghana was considered as being on a moderate level. Compared to 2019, when the level of crime in the country peaked, it decreased by approximately 6.6 percent. Furthermore, in 2018, the index was lowest at 45 points.

Person trafficking
The year 2018 recorded a total number of 331 detected cases of people trafficking in Ghana, which was a noticeable decrease compared to 2017, when such events reached 558. West Africa is the region with the most detected victims of people trafficking in sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria being in the lead. As a result of the reported number of victims in Ghana, people prosecuted for offenses in person trafficking in the country reached 42 in 2018, and 55 in 2017.

Crime against women

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is one of the criminal offenses in Ghana that involves women and girls, despite being constitutionally abolished. It is carried out on both minors and adults. In 2018, 63.6 percent of 14,374 surveyed women had had flesh in the genital area removed as a procedure of FGM. As of the same year, 7.3 percent of the same count of women were given into marriage before age 15, to the negligence of child marriage challenges such as teenage pregnancy and poverty. Another type of crime involving women is domestic violence. Overall, in 2018, 16.5 percent of male respondents, and 32.4 percent of surveyed women in Ghana reported that domestic violence was justified if, for instance, a woman burned food, argued with her husband, or neglected the children at home.

Fire destroys four bed rooms at Bibiani Gyedi

News reaching Silver fm news is that fire has destroyed about four bedrooms at Bibiani Gyedi in the Bibiani Municipal of western North Region,

According to report the fire started around 9:00am and none of the tenants was at home.

Tenant of the affected house, Ndego Daniel Dacosta speaking to the media said, he was at school monitoring the exams of the students and got a distressed call that, their house is on fire.

According to him, none of them were able to retrieve their properties hence the need for the NADMO and NGO's to come to their aid.

Assistant Divisional fire officer ADO Joseph Embrah said they got a distressed call that, a house has been razed by fire.

According to him, they had to call the Nhyinahin Fire Service because they had problem with their fire thunder.

To the Editor, Why I didn’t show up for the morning news production on Monday On that fateful day (Monday, April 4 th 2022) I was preparing to come and produce the morning news despite the heavy rainfall and lack of electricity in my area. I was ready to come around 4:30am when my father ordered me to wait due to crime rate in my area and especially such an ungodly hour.
