Covid-19: Delta Variant is different from the other virus- Dr. Bonney

 

Senior Research Fellower at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Dr. Kofi Bonney has stated that, the new Delta Variant is different from the old virus.

According to him, the virus needs to adapt a new strategy to fight against the measures we put in place.

He added that, this virus grows faster and change in their genetic makeup and that will results in a slightly different variant compared to the new one.

He noted that, the new virus are very strong and have the ability to create more diseases which makes them very deadlier.

He lamented that, we are going to continue to have new variants as long as there’s spread if care is not taken.

Currently, the active cases stand at 6,765 with 345 new cases.

 The Ghana Health Service has disclosed that the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19
vaccine will be available from today.

Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Aboagye Dacosta speaking to the media said, the first tranche will start from the hotspots in Accra and Ashanti.

According to him, those who have already taking the Astra Zeneca should not visit any center for this Johnson and Johnson jab.

The vaccine shots will be given out in 11 districts; seven in the Greater Accra Region and four in the Greater Kumasi metro.

Ghana has received its first batch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines under the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT), a move initiated by the African Union (AU).

Dr. Dacosta added that, they already have those who have taken the first jab on their system that will be used to prevent them from taking this jab.

He again urged all pregnant women to desist from taking this jab.

Director of Communications at the Zoomlion, Madam Emma Adwoa Appiah has explained why they have stopped the fumigation of markets and other places.
