Covid-19: Things are getting worse- Dr. Adjei

Ashanti regional Deputy Clinical care Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Michael Rockson Adjei has bemoaned how the active cases in the region is increasing regularly.

According to him, it seems it is getting worse since we entered into the third wave.

He added that, as at two weeks ago, Ashanti region had 700 cases but the active cases had increase and will continue if care is not taken.

Currently, Ghana has recorded 109, 022 cases, 101, 365 have recovered and 892 has died.

Ghana as at 11th August 2021 recorded 345 new cases and 12 new deaths.

Dr. Rockson stressed that, the attitude of Ghanaians is the cause of the upsurge of the covid-19 in the country.

He noted that, some Ghanaians have become reluctant in observing the safety protocols to help curtail the spread of the virus.

Dr. Adjei revealed that, currently they have less than 200 beds across the hospitals to treat people affected with the covid-19.

He stressed that, the only option they have got is to advised some of the patience to do self isolation in their homes.

“Self isolation has become one of the challenges because they can’t guarantee if the patient will adhere to the directives”, he said.

“You can visit a self isolated person but you will find out that, he/ she is roaming around freely and if care is not taken, people might be affected”, he lamented.
