Founder’s Day: Prez Akufo Addo reaping for his father what he did not sow- CPP

Youth Leader for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Osei Kofi Acquah has accused President Akufo Addo for trying to give reap for his father and colleagues what they did not sow.

According to him, as far as they (CPP) are concerned, today is not the Founder’s Day but rather the forming of United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) per the history of this country.

He added that, under no circumstance did the UGCC helped gain independence for the country.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has charged Ghanaians to free themselves from economic arrangements designed by the former colonial masters in order to honour the country’s forbears.

In his message to mark Founders’ Day on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo said those arrangements, which were to serve a purpose at that time, appear to continue to bind us.

“We must make concerted efforts to break away from the neo-colonial structure of the raw material producing and exporting economy, which has, largely, been our lot,” he posted on his official Facebook page.

“Let us all put our shoulders to the wheel, and drive our nation to its destination, a united, developed, prosperous, free, democratic and independent Ghanaian nation,” he concluded

But Osei Kofi said, founders should be in remembrance of the first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who through CPP gained independence for the country.

“President Akufo Addo is trying to involve his father and colleagues to be part of the founder’s day when they weren’t even part”, he lamented.
