Makola: Traders bare teeth against G.N.F.S

 Traders at the Makola market in Accra has bare teeth against the Ghana Fire Service at the market following the fire outbreak destroying worth of properties.

There has been another fire outbreak at the Makola market in Accra, a month after a similar incident was recorded in the central business district.

The latest inferno gutted some parts of the inner perimeter of the new Makola shopping mall.

The building is made of shops occupied by traders who deal in hair and cosmetic products, clothes, shoes among others.

Eyewitnesses say the fire began at about 7:25 am on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

But according to the angry traders, they do not see the importance of the Fire Service deployed at the market.

They added that, the Government should sack all the Personals if they feel they can’t work anymore.

They noted that, they called the Fire service when the fire broke out but they didn’t showed up because they don’t have fuel and water.

They lamented that, they have lost huge sums of money due to the failure of the fire service to come to their aid.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rejection of local food is the cause of too much sickness- Mr. Toku

Senior Presbyter at the Ghana Presby Church at Ahwia in Kwabre East District, Mr. Ebenezer Toku Amankwah has attributed too many diseases in the country due to the neglect of the local foods.

Speaking to Silver fm’s Kwabena Wireko during the Week Celebration said, local foods like “Apreprensa, nohu, 3to” etc are kinds of foods that helped the fore fathers hence the need for everyone to eat the local foods.

According to him, the foods we eat these days causes a lot of sickness due to the chemicals and other stuffs they use.

He again advised Ghanaians especially the women to reduce the time they spent on social media.

Head of Tradition at the Church, Mr. Berima Antwi Boasiako also explained the reason behind the celebration dubbed “Traditional Week celebration”.

Retired Pastor, Pastor, Kofi Efa also said there is nothing wrong to remember our tradition in church.

He revealed that, remembering the tradition and cultural of the Ashanti kingdom in the church doesn’t mean they are worshipping the gods.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Agenda 111: These Hospitals to help fight covid-19- Dr. Nsiah Asare

Presidential Advisor on Health at the Presidency, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare has justified why the Government is construction hospitals in some districts under Agenda 111.

Government has secured US$100m from the GIFF to construct a number of districts, regional and specialized hospitals

The project is aimed at scaling up healthcare infrastructure in the country

President Akufo-Addo will launch the project on Tuesday August 17, 2021.

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah has disclosed that government has secured US$100 million from the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund to construct a number of districts, regional and specialized hospitals under the agenda 111 project.

Dr. Nsiah Asare in an interview with the media said, the government’s decision is to fight against covid-19 in the country hence the need for them to construct the hospitals.

According to him, there is some District who doesn’t have hospitals which makes the fight against the virus very difficult.

He added that, other hospitals get overcrowded hence the need for them to build hospitals in the 88 districts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Involve yourself in TVET- Akua Boadu

Chief Executive Officer of 3f3 Beauty Academy, Mrs. Akua Boadu has urged Ghanaians to involve themselves in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

According to her, skills learning can help create more jobs in the country irrespective of your educational background.

Speaking to Silver fm’s Nana Frimpong and Filasco during the Grand opening of 3f3 beauty Academy at Kronum Kwapra in the Suame Constituency said a lot of graduates have engaged themselves in the TVET to earn other extra monies.

Mrs. Akua Boadu based in Canada said, she wants to help the youth in Ghana especially Ashanti region to learn through TVET.

Institute Manager for National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Suame Branch, Mr. Richard Addo Gyamfi also disclosed that, the perception that, only school dropout and illiterate engage themselves in Vocational Training is false.

The Director-General of the Commission for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has disclosed that President Akufo Addo's vision of making Ghana a world-class TVET hub is gradually taking shape.

This, he attributed to the massive infrastructure projects ongoing and restructuring in the various regions across the country to revamp the TVET sector.

Dr Asamoah made this known during a visit to some selected TVET projects with the Parliamentary Select Committee for Education last week.

The Parliamentary Select Committee for Education is currently touring ongoing TVET projects around the country to assess the progress and report back to the house.

In Accra, the Committee visited a new campus for the Accra Technical University at Mpehuasem (Samsam) which was inaugurated in 2018 and is currently being restocked with new tools and equipment under the Ghana China Project on the Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Equipment in Technical Universities and Institutes.

The Committee also visited the Ashaiman Technical Institute where there is a newly constructed workshop with state-of-the-art tools and equipment under the same project.

Again, the team visited the NVTI headquarters and the Vocational and Technical Institute (VTI) both at East Legon where there is an ongoing construction work which is part of the project for the overall upgrade and modernization of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in Ghana which commenced in 2019.

It would be recalled that in 2018, whilst speaking at the centenary celebrations of Asuansi Technical Institute, in Asuansi, in the Central Region, President Akufo-Addo said it was the goal of his government to make Ghana a world-class centre for skills development, and a leading country in technical and vocational education training (TVET) delivery in Africa.

He further outlined Government's strategic policy on Technical and Vocational Education and Training, stating: "We want to emphasize the importance of TVET, and redeem the misconception that technical and vocational education is inferior and patronized only by less endowed students."

This promise has informed the government 'resolve to invest over $ 700 million US Dollars since 2017.

According to Dr. Asamoah, the government is upgrading and modernizing all National Vocational Training Institutes (NVTIs) and Opportunity Industrialisation Centres (OIC) nationwide.

 

 

Agenda 111: Stop the negative comments- Oppong Nkrumah warns

Information Minister, Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has warned Ghanaians especially members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to desist from the negative comments they are making about the Agenda 111 project.

According to him, the construction of the hospitals is to save lives of the both NPP and NDC supporters hence the need for them to stop the criticism.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of measures to mitigate the impact of the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, will on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, break grounds for the commencement of the construction of hospitals under the government’s Agenda 111 initiative.

The project is part of a grand vision for Ghana’s healthcare sector by the Akufo-Addo administration, the realization of which will ensure that 101 outstanding districts will be provided with hospitals in addition to 10 selected regional and specialized hospitals.

The Ofoase Ayirebi legislator speaking to the media said, the President decided to construct some hospitals in about 88 districts which should be completed in a year time.

According to him, the President formed a committee head by the Chief of Staff Hon. Frema Opare to plan about how the project should be done.

He added that, the committee was able to detect 88 districts were the construction of the hospitals will commenced tomorrow, Tuesday August 17, 2021 at Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti region.

He hinted that, the US$100 million start-up fund will be increased.
