Spousal killing: public view on possible causes

 Ghana within the few weeks has been thrown in state of shock due to the increased murder of spouses in a relationship.

A man at Doboro in the Nsawam slit his throat after killing his four month-old pregnant wife. 

A similar incident also happened at Asuofia- Asaman in the Afigya- Kwabre District in the Ashanti region also killed his wife and committed suicide.

A female Police Constable, Sandra Asiedu was also allegedly murdered in cold blood by her boyfriend at Damango in the West Gonja Municipality.

These and many more happened recently in the country without any tangible reasons.

Some residents within the Kumasi Metropolitan speaking to Silver news revealed some of the causes that can lead to this spousal killing.

According to them, mistrust and anger can lead to the killing of the partner.

Another said, pressure and arguing with the man also caused this to happen.

Head of Department of Psychology at the University of Ghana, Prof. Joseph Osarfo speaking to the media said some men thinks they owned the woman they are with either married or dating.

Social media is also one of the main factors that can lead to the killing of their partner.

He added that, another factor that contributes to the killing of their partners is betrayal. A man can take care of a lady throughout her education and the lady after securing a good job will tell the man, he is not her type, that alone can make a man kill you, he said.

He again advised men to always control their anger to avoid any mistake that can lead to be imprisoned or other consequences.

Kutre No. 1: Child abandoned at a dumping site

Residents at Kutre No.1 in the Berekum Municipality has been thrown into state of shock following the discovering of the child been abandoned at a dumping site.

According to an eyewitness who spoke in anonymity said, “I was accompanying my brother to buy something and they discovered something in the bush near the dumping site.

She added that, she went to see what was there only for them to see the child lying there with a piece of cloth covering her.

She noted that, she knows the owner of the cloth which has been used to cover the child.

Another said, they have never seen this dreadful act before and suspect the person might be a resident in the community.

Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Augustine Yeboah also said, they are shocked to see this dreadful act.

According to him, he suspects the person is a resident in the community and they will soon commence investigations to apprehend the culprit.
