Minority accuses Akufo-Addo of breaching constitution in appointment of CEOs for state-owned enterprises
The Minority in Parliament has accused President Akufo-Addo of violating the constitution in appointing Chief Executive Officers for state enterprises.
According to the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, the lawfully constituted public service commission responsible for recruiting such personnel has been sidelined by the presidency in the appointments.
“Show me the last time you saw an advert of a high public office in the Ghanaian dailies. Chief Executive, Executive Director positions were hitherto advertised openly, and the Public Services Commission was thoroughly engaged to fill in those vacancies.
“Under the four years of Nana Addo-Dankwa, all those positions have been filled from the office of the President, not through competitive advertisements inviting competent, qualified Ghanaians to fill in those positions,” he said in an interview on Monday.
The 1992 constitution has mandated the Public Service Commission to supervise and regulate the “entrance and promotion examinations, recruitment, appointment into or promotions within the Public Services and the establishment of guidelines on the terms and conditions of employment in the public services.”
In view of this, the Tamale South legislator described the President’s actions over the years as illegal, unconstitutional, and affront to the rule of law.
“This is disappointing. We have all times demanded openness and transparency into the recruitment process, and it is being reduced to another laughable venture,” he told the media.

Akufo-Addo’s bad governance affecting my s3x drive – Yamoah Pomkoh
A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said he is unable to perform his manly duties due to what he described as “bad governance” of the Akufo-Addo administration.
Afrifra Yamoah Pomkoh claims he does not remember the last time he had s3x because “my manhood has been down.
“As I am talking to you now, my penis is not even functioning properly. Even when I have desire for women, it doesn’t even resurrect to perform its core duty as a man,” he bemoaned.
The former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu disclosed this while discussing the worsening socio-economic conditions in the country.
He is convinced President Akufo-Addo, who promised heaven on earth, is not on top of issues.
The former Ejisu MCE cited how nine months in government, President Akufo-Addo has not been able to appoint Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to corroborate his claim.
“The President is in his ninth month in his second term and has not yet appointed MMDCEs who will see to the day to day administration of the various districts and municipalities. Nothing seem to be working in this country,” he said.
He added that, he thinks you should help me see a doctor because I am not sure the President is ready to do anything to help improve the country’s economy and better the lives of Ghanaians.

Ghanaians urged to support Gov’t in creating jobs
Ghanaians have been urged to support the Government in creating jobs to help create employment for the youth.
The issue of jobless growth in Ghana has become a major concern, particularly due to rising unemployment among the youth. Services have emerged as the driver of growth in Ghana, contrary to the experiences in East Asia and other newly industrialized countries where manufacturing exports led growth and added capacity to absorb low- to medium-skilled workers.
In fact, in Ghana, manufacturing has performed abysmally, with an average growth rate of 3.2 percent between 2008 to 2017.
Therefore, a Group calling themselves as ‘Friends of Dr. Kwaku Oteng Society GH.’ is calling on the affluent in the society to help government to create more jobs for the youth to curb the high rate of unemployment in Ghana.
According to the Chairman of the Group, Mr. James Arthur, Government alone cannot satisfy the needs of the people especially the youths hence the need for other individuals’ i.e rich in the society to support the move.
He finally entreated the youth to also take advantage of any opportunity.

The economy is not in crisis- John Kuma
Deputy Finance Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, Hon. John Kuma has refuted claims by the former President, John Dramani Mahama that, the economy of this country is in crisis.
Former President John Mahama has called on government to accept that its mismanagement and not Covid-19 has led to the current economic crisis the country is facing.
According to him, government’s consumption expenditure and the desire to spend beyond the country’s means has plunged it into the current crisis.
He was speaking at NDC’s Professionals Forum lecture series on Monday on the topic “The State of Ghana’s Economy-The Scorecard.”
The 2020 NDC presidential candidate said the country’s debt has increased to “unstainable levels”, exposing Ghana to a high risk of debt default.
But Hon. John Kumas said, the President Akufo Addo is working very hard to stabilize the economy.
According to him, the only crisis the country face was “Dumsor” unemployment rate in the country and also approaching the IMF etc which he left for the NPP government.
He added that, everybody knows that, President Akufo Addo has put things in place to help better the country.
He noted that, Mahama during his tenure had some slogans which everybody knows.

Coup in Guinea- What has happened is unfortunate- Abdul Kader
Chief of staff of the President of the opposition party Union of the Republican Forces (UFR) in Guinea, Abdul Kader Makanera has expressed his disappointment towards the coup attempt on their President, Alpha Conde.
According to him, this incident that has happened in Guinea is not a happy event for Africa especially in this 21st century era.
The fate of Guinea's President Alpha Condé is unclear after an unverified video showed him surrounded by soldiers, who said they had seized power.
They appeared on national TV claiming to have dissolved the government.
However, the defence ministry said the attempted takeover had been thwarted by the presidential guard.
This follows hours of heavy gunfire near the presidential palace in the capital, Conakry.
UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres and the African Union have condemned the apparent coup and demanded the immediate release of President Condé.
The West African country of Guinea is rich in natural resources but years of unrest and mismanagement mean it is one of the world's poorest countries.

Guinea Coup: There could be two more coups by December in the sub-region – Prof. Aning
The Director of Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) is predicting two more coup d’etats in the African continent if measures are not put in place by international communities to address the military takeover in Guinea.
Prof Kwesi Aning, speaking to the media explained that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU) have failed to ensure its member states adhere to laid down conventions as well as reprimand those who flout them.
According to him, it would come as no surprise if two more takeovers occur before the end of the year.
“What has happened in Guinea is painful. It is something that could have been prevented. It is unnecessary, however not surprising that it has taken place. What we are witnessing is a failure of leadership across our continent.
“If we don’t step in and correct the whip and ensure that member states indeed comply with what they have signed on to, by December, you and I would be having this conversation with respect to two more coup d’etats,” he said.
His comments come at a time when the African continent within a year alone has witnessed three coups and an attempted takeover.
Mali has witnessed two coups, Guinea’s administration was recently taken over by the military and there has been an attempted coup d’etat in Niger.
According to Ranking Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, these happenings show that “the AU, and ECOWAS have just become a club where you can do whatever you want”
The North Tongu MP who also believes the international community has failed in its mandate is pushing for a peer review mechanism where African leaders sit and speak to one another truthfully on the instability happening on the continent.
