Ranking Member on Parliament’s Education Committee, Peter Notsu-Kotoe, has charged the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to name and shame officials involved in the leakage of test papers.

According to him, this is one of the most feasible ways of halting the perinea malpractices which affect the integrity of the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

“When you [WAEC] do the investigations, name and shame the culprits so that it can deter others from engaging in such activities.”

Addressing stakeholders, Head of Test Administration at WAEC, George Ohene-Mantey, said portions of the papers were found to have been circulated before the examination as “the ‘cheating’ social media groups were in full swing.”

“After the administration of the tests, careful scrutiny of the several versions received indicates extracts of parts of the questions for Mathematics (Elective) 2 and Section ‘A’ of English Language 2 were circulated on some social media platforms,” he said.

Peter Nortu-Kotoe believes there are measures including the support of stakeholders to enhance the integrity of test results.

Yaw Boateng Gyan wants Duffuor to challenge Mahama for NDC flagbearership

The former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Yaw Boateng Gyan, has stated that he wants former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffour to contest the party’s flagbearship race for the 2024 elections.

Dr. Duffour appears to be the only aspirant who will be joining the race to contest former President John Dramani Mahama in the next NDC presidential primaries, with massive support from NDC cadres.

According to him, he would be happy beyond description and solidly support him, if Duffour expresses his intention to contest.

“Kwame, I would be extremely happy if Dr. Duffour decides to contest as flagbearer of the NDC. I would support him wholeheartedly. If Dr. Duffour opens his mouth to declare his intent today, I would lead his campaign,” he categorically stated.

Giving reason to support the former Finance Minister, Boateng Gyan said John Mahama sponsored Kofi Adams to defeat him, adding that he earlier dismissed the rumour as malicious and false when he heard that John Mahama sponsored Kofi Adams against him but now he has come to a conclusion that it was true.

He further stated that another reason to support Duffour to lead the NDC in the 2024 elections is because of sponsored publication against him.

“I am now coming to the realization that John Mahama indeed sponsored Kofi Adams against me. At first, I thought it wasn’t true but now I have come to that realization. Mahama sponsored candidates against me.
