E-learning holds the key to inclusive education – Bawumia

Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has revisited the educational sector with his digitalization drive by making a strong case for the democratization of teaching and learning across all levels in the country through the use of e-learning.

The move, according to Dr. Bawumia will go a long way to not only enhance accessibility, but also bring about equity for all, regardless of the geographic location of a learner at any point in time.

He said this at the launch of the integrated online learning program, a platform that focuses on empowering and preparing young people for the job market of the 21st century.

The platform will offer an extensive range of courses through partnerships with local businesses, organizations, industries and institutions to develop skills and competency for young people.

He noted that, additionally, that platform will help graduates to find opportunities and put their skills into practice in the world of work.

The integrated learning platform according to the Vice President provides an appropriate method of instructions particularly for learners in rural settings.

He added that, the E-learning is hailed as an essential force for democratizing education and it holds the key to inclusive education.

He noted that, E-learning is an appropriate platform to instruct students in remote areas which involves all types of learning and skills development,” Dr. Bawumia said.

He outlined some indirect benefits of the online learning platform including the believe that it will save time and money because learners do not have to drive to learning centers. Again, there will be a reduction in printing of papers which will result in reduction in carbon footprint among others.
