Akufo Addo erred in his address- Hon. Dafeamekpor

Member of Parliament for South Dayi constituency, Hon. Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor has accused the President for erring during his 28th national address on measures his government is taking to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic on Sunday.

According to him, President Akufo Addo should have come to the Parliament for permission before relieving some restrictions he posed during the pandemic.

President Akufo addressing Ghanaians yesterday said, from today, Monday, March 28, fully vaccinated travelers into the country will not take PCR tests from the country of embarkation to allow them entry into the country through the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

He added that “Citizens and foreign residents in Ghana, who are not fully vaccinated, would, however, need to provide a negative PCR test result of not more than 48 hours, will undergo an antigen test upon arrival at KIA, and will be offered vaccination there.

Hon. Dafeamekpor speaking to the media today said, they (Parliamentarians) set up the covid-19 restriction act hence President Akufo Addo should have consulted the Parliament.

According to him, the law states that, everyone should wear face mask but it’s very disturbing for the President to act on his own.

He added that, lifting the restrictions solely depend on the Parliament because they made the law.
