I believe Mahama should be changed as flagbearer – Former NDC National Organizer
Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Yaw Boateng Gyan, has stated his strong conviction that former President John Dramani Mahama should be dropped as a candidate for the party in the 2024 elections.
Former President Mahama, having lost re-election in 2016, contested the presidency again in 2020 as flagbearer of the NDC but lost again.
Ahead of the 2024 elections, John Dramani Mahama is once again tipped as the likely presidential candidate of the NDC which is aiming for a comeback to power after what will be an eight-year opposition term.
Speaking to the media, he preached against the party pitching John Dramani Mahama as its flagbearer come December 7, 2024.
According to him, Mahama has done a lot for the country and is time for him to step aside for others to continue.
He added that, in 2016, they allowed him to lead the party but failed followed by 2020 elections and again failed so it will be a disaster if they allow him to lead them again ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Ahead of the NDC’s election of a flagbearer for 2024 former President Mahama’s name has emerged as the potential candidate with massive endorsements from several members and bigwigs in the party.
However, some other names including former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor has emerged as potential contenders for the flagbearership.
Mr. Gyan again said, the NDC should keep the name of the one who will lead them a secret as the NPP has done because as at now no one knows who will be the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He added that, the performance of Mahama is the result of the hang parliament we have now in the country.
EIU’s in its five-year forecast for Ghana released on April 13, 2022, said that the opposition party, NDC, has a higher probability to be victorious in the next general elections.
Also, the report said that the government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is faced with numerous challenges including unemployment, an economic downturn, and corruption among others which will fuel citizens’ sentiments against the governing party.

Don’t blame us for current economic crisis – Russia fires at govts
The Russian Embassy in Ghana has taken exception to the attribution of the current economic crisis across the globe to the Vladimir Putin-led invasion of Ukraine in February.
“However, the truth is different,” the Embassy said in a tweet on Monday.
“The Embassy wishes to shed some light on the roots and drivers of this crisis and provide a comprehensive and objective analysis without emotions and political prejudice.”
In a thread to the main tweet, Kremlin’s representative in Accra explained that the current situation in the food market, for instance, started two years ago and “not a result of two months of this year”.
However a Economic Consultant, Bismark Osei reacting to this said, food prices in the global market since the war started between February and March.
According to him, wheat price has increased 15%, fertilizer has increase by 100% and maize has increase by 300% so it means that, the war has have a negative impact across the world which Ghana is among.
He added that, the Russian Ambassador is trying to shift blame but he think both Russian and Ukraine should find amicable solution to this war rather than blaming others.
