Work on Boankra inland port to commence by August 8 – Ejisu MCE

  Municipal Chief Executive of the Ejisu Municipality, Samuel Oduro Frimpong has disclosed that, work is set to commence on the Boankra Inland Port by August 8, 2022 after being abandoned. Speaking to Nana Ampratwum on Silver fm Omanbapa morning show said, a company called Ashanti Port Services has been handed over the project with the assurance that, work will commence on either by the end of July or August 8 th , 2022. According to him, Ejisu will be the “Tema” of Ashanti region if the project is being completed. The over $400 million project, which sits on a 100-hectare land, was initiated by former President John Agyekum Kufuor and stalled for over ten years after change of government. On November 5, 2020, President Nana Akufo-Addo together with Otumfour Osei Tutu II cut the sod for resumption of work on the project, a development which according to residents of Boankra was a long awaited intervention which they warmly welcomed. ….S O FRIMPONG….       NDC intern

Beneficial Ownership Disclosure will tackle corruption – Akufo-Addo

  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on civil society organizations and corporate bodies to fully embrace Beneficial Ownership Disclosure (BOD) as an innovative way to increase internal revenue collection. He said the implementation of the BOD regime would not only help curb corruption but also help in efforts to collect revenue for development. “This will be achieved by lifting the veil from the true owners of companies so that they pay the right amount of tax, reducing transfer pricing and mispricing, which has the potential to undermine our efforts to collect internal revenue.” President Md. Any potential deal with IMF will not unduly burden Ghanaians – Finance Minister assures

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has assured parliamentarians that he will ensure that talks with the IMF are positive and do not put Ghanaians in any undue hardship. The Minister gave this assurance at the conclusion of the debate on the Mid-year budget statement on Wednesday. ....KEN OFORI…. ECG to go after ‘unrepentant’ customers from next week

  Electricity consumers across the country must brace themselves in the coming weeks for Electricity Company of Ghana’s intended meter audit operations that will begin on August 1, 2022. Addressing the press after over a month’s moratorium, the Managing Director of ECG, Samuel Dubik Mahama noted that the company will deploy a team of taskforces to visit homes and audit all meters and ensure all faulty, tampered meters and illegal connections are fished out of the system. He added that, anyone caught during the process will be prosecuted by the utilities court for stealing. He said, “the power court which is also called the utilities court is ready and will from next week start active prosecution of cases”. According to him, anybody caught stealing power will be charged with stealing and will be made to pay a hefty fine or a prison sentence.
