Combined Kumasi traders demand completion of central market

Combined traders at central market have expressed frustration about the state of the project and its toll on the commercial activities within the enclave.

Central market if completed will house banks, fire stations, retail outlets, leisure centers, warehouses, offices, and clinics as well as police stations.

Speaking to media at press briefing, the secretary of the group, Emelia Asare Koffie said, traders were evicted without any place being allocated to them it took the Ashanti Otumfour Osei Tutu II through the KMA to give them a piece of land at racecourse of this evicted traders to find their metal containers whiles others ended up in the house jobless.

They therefore demand the completion of the abandoned central market phase.

Meanwhile some affected evicted traders emphasis their ordeal.

However, KMA Mayor Hon. Samuel Pyne speaking in an interview with Loving C on Silver Omanbapa Morning show pleaded with the affected traders to have patience with them as the authorities are doing everything possible to re-open the affected part.

According to him, the traders will blame him if anything happens when they rush to re-open it immediately without given the nod.

NDC YOUTH VANDALIZED PARTY OFFICE

  Irate youth of the National Democratic Congress in the Suame Constituency have vandalized the office of the National Democratic Congress at Suame. Leader angry youth, Mohammed Naail speaking to Silver fm reporter, Akwadaa Nyame, the executives  within the party has failed to meet up to their expectation. According to him, the constituency Chairman does not vote at the Suame Constituency hence he can’t become the Chairman of the party per their rules. He added that, there is an injunction on Shaba by the court that prevents him from entering the party’s office. He noted that, they felt disappointed towards the Ashanti regional Chairman on the NDC for giving a clearance letter to Shaba to become the Chairman of the constituency without informing anybody. Dickson Agyemang, Operations manager for Wetland under the Forestry Commission has revealed that consistent desertification of lands and building in water ways may lead the country into food crisis in the coming years. Ghana is losing more than 20 percent forest reserve every year due to desertification such as mining activities, felling down of trees and the likes, he revealed when speaking on Omanbapa show with Nana Ampratwum. He added that Ghana is in a risk of food crisis and extreme poverty if we continue the activities that destroy farmlands and forest reserves. Mr. Agyemang therefore encouraged Ghanaians to report people who build in water areas for legal action to be taken against them.
