Our Covid-19 OPDs are filling up – GHS

  Head of Critical and Severe Cases at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Chris Owoo, has revealed that the Outpatient Department (OPD) at the Ghana Infectious Disease Center is receiving a significant number of Covid-19 patients. Speaking to the media, he stated that statistics show that the majority of those infected are individuals who have not been vaccinated. According to him, “Their Covid OPDs are already filling up as I speak now. If you come to the Ghana Infectious Disease Center, what you would have is over 30 or 40 people whereas 4 weeks ago we had 1, 2 or even 0. Majority of those who are coming to the OPDs with mild or moderate diseases are still those who are unvaccinated but the proportions are about 60 to 70 per cent unvaccinated and 40 to 30 per cent who are vaccinated. Ashanti Police on manhunt for robbers who killed MoMo vendor at Konongo

  The Ashanti Regional Police Command has said it is on a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who shot and killed a mobile money merchant (Edward Gyamfi, aka Rasto) at his residence at Konongo on Tuesday night, December 21, 2021. According to the Public Relations Officer for the regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the suspects trailed him from an ATM machine to his house and killed him. He added that, the two suspects trailed the 46 year old deceased from an ATM to his house at 9:30 pm and made away with an unspecified amount of money after shooting him. ASP Ahianyo has thus advised all mobile money merchants to close their businesses early to help curb the menace and also consult the Police for an escort when going to the bank. ….ASP AHIANYO….. 2 Police officers die through violent crime at Zuarungu

The Police say two officers died on Wednesday while on patrol at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region. The Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori speaking to the media said, the two officers –Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Mohamed Sule– who were on night patrols were both killed by suspected armed robbers on Wednesday night. According to him, the robbers shot at the tank of the police motorbike and partially burnt Constable Mohammed Sule while Constable Emmanuel Akowuah was shot in the head. He added that, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akufo Dampare has cut short his tour in the Ashanti region and visit Chiefs and Elders of Zuarungu. He noted that, they will do everything to arrest the suspected armed robbers and will face the law. He revealed that, the IGP has placed a GH¢50,000 bounty on the heads of the armed robbers. Agape protest: We deserve better– Protesters

Some residents of Agape in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have demonstrated today to express their frustration about their bad roads . The all-red-clad demonstrators wielded placards with messages such as: “We’re tired of the promises”, “We are part of Ghana”, “#FixAgapeRoadsNow”, “Residents of Agape also pay taxes”, “Residents of Agape deserve better”, “We are citizens and not spectators”, “Agape lives matter”, among others. They chanted songs that said “the roads are bad” and need fixing as they marched through the community. Some of the demonstrators speaking to the media said, they pay their taxes therefore deserve better. According to them, the demonstration follows the numerous complaints which have yielded no results, hence, the demo is to mount pressure on the appropriate authorities to fix the deplorable roads.
