2022 Budget approved today

The 2022 budget has been approved by the Parliament of Ghana. The First Deputy Speaker who sat in for the Speaker said on Tuesday that “The House has adopted the financial statement and approved the budget statement for the ensuring year ending 31st December 2021.” “This hose has approved the budget and economic statement,” he stressed. The budget was approved without the Minority in parliament. The budget was approved by 138 members according to the constitution. The Majority leader in Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu moved a motion for rescission as minority absent themselves from parliament. The Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta amended the 2022 budget which was later approved by the Parliament. ….JOE WISE….. Tollbooth workers stage demo in Accra, present petition to Parliament

  Several toll workers across the country poured onto the streets of Accra on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, to protest the cessation of the collection of tolls, which has rendered them redundant. According to them, the directive from the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta is having an adverse impact on their livelihoods. This follows a directive from the Roads Minister that the collection of road and bridge tolls at all locations nationwide should be halted effective from 12am on Thursday, November 18, 2021. This followed the announcement made by the Finance Minister during the 2022 budget presentation to Parliament, where he said the decision was to take effect after Parliament approves the budget. The government has said the tollbooth workers would be retrained and reassigned, and that none of them would lose their jobs, as they would continue to withdraw their salaries. Dr Bawumia touts Juabenhene’s legacy

  The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that the 50-year rule of the Juabenhene, Nana Otuo Siriboe II (Chairman of Council of State), has brought nothing but development to the people of Juaben, Asanteman and the country as a whole. According to him, he is very impressed by the fact that Nana Otuo Serebour started his development agenda not by appealing to government or to donors as it is often done by many these days. He said the chief appealed to government only when the outlay was beyond the capabilities of the local folks. Dr Bawumia emphasized that a true and sustainable development was not what was done relying on the charity of others, but by leading through a strategy of self-reliance by organizing harvest and raising funds to support same with the efforts of the people. Ntomem: Man 22 gun down by Security man

  A 22 year old Emmanuel Arthur, aka, Amaro has been shot to death by a Chinese Security guard at a mining site at Ntomem in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti region. An eyewitness, Kodie Joseph, aka Odwoo narrating the incident to Nana Ampratwum on Silver fm Omanbapa morning show said, he together with the deceased and other friends visited a mining site belonging to a Chinese company to engage in the mining after the company was closed yesterday. According to him, they picked up a blanket which belonged to the company to check if they can get any gold when the suspected security man warned them to return the blanket but they refused. He added that, the suspect gave a warning shot in a close range without adhering to their advice to stop shooting.
