We were in need of Psychiatric hospital- Dr. Osei

  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mental Health Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei has expressed their excitement after the government’s decision to build Psychiatric hospitals for them. Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta during the presentation of the Mid-year budget said, the Government’s ambitious project to construct a number of hospitals referred to as ‘Agenda 111’ is set to commence in August 2021. He disclosed that the government has decided to execute the initiative in two phases with the first phase, being the processes completed. Dr. Akwasi Osei speaking to Nana Ampratwum on Silver fm Omanbapa morning show said, they were in dire of Psychiatric hospitals that will help them a lot. According to him, they only have three Psychiatric hospitals across the country. He added that, they face a lot of challenges when delivering their work hence the need to commend the government’s decision. He again added that, the hospital will built at Tamale and Ashanti region.

#GHBUDGET: Calling for the scraping of some taxes is uncalled for- Tax Expert jabs Hon. Jinapor

Tax Expert, Nana Adu Gyamfi has jabbed Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, Hon. John Jinapor for calling for the scraping of some taxes introduced earlier this year. Hon. John Jinapor, has said the government deserves no commendation for not asking for additional money during the mid-year budget review. Mr. Jinapor insisted that government should have used the opportunity to scrap some of the new taxes introduced earlier in the year. According to him, that was the only way the government could have shown sympathy to the suffering Ghanaian. Opuni trail: Is normal to transfer Judge in a criminal Case- Lawyer Bekai

  Constitutional Lawyer, Lawyer Kofi Bekai has stated that, it is normal for the Supreme Court to transfer a Judge who is already sitting on a criminal case. The Supreme Court has in a majority decision upheld the motion for Justice Clemence Honyenuga to discontinue hearing the case involving Dr Stephen Opuni and two others at the High Court . The five-member panel of the court in a three-two majority ruled that, Justice Honyenuga, a Justice of the Supreme Court, sitting as an additional High Court Judge, was prohibited from continuing with the trial. Justice Gabriel Pwamang, Justice Agnes Dodzie and Justice Amadu Tanko granted the application, while the presiding judge Justice Jones Dotse and Justice Lovelace Johnson dissented. The panel also granted the request for portion of the ruling on submission of no case to be quashed. #GHBUDGET: Ghana’s economy has improved - Economist

Economist, Dr. Sam Olanyo Mensah has stated that, the country’s economy has been quiet a stable one. Speaking to Nana Ampratwum on Silver fm Omanbapa morning show said, the government has been able to sustain some of the basic activities that they need to provide the citizens. According to him, interest rate has reduced from 33% to 23%, inflation rate has also reduced from 14% to a single digit which means there is improvement in the economy.   Minister for Trade and Industry of Ghana , Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng is pleading with Ghanaians to come together and help construct factories in their districts under the One- District, One- Factory initiative. Speaking to the media in Accra, he stated that, it is high time Ghanaians desist from been propaganda and support the government’s initiative. According to him, the government will partner with any private entity who will construct a factory in the district they belong. He added that, construction of factories in the district will both help the government and the district as a whole.
